Chakra is a Sanskrit word-meaning wheel or circle. Chakra refers to one of the seven main energy centers, which spin like wheels through and around our bodies. Each one of these energy centers has a specific purpose in the healthy functioning of our bodies. The energies rhythmically pulsate and circulate throughout the core of this wheel, and resemble the petals of a flower. Each chakra varies in size, shape, color spin, and the amount of energy that is produced. All these characteristics affect the auric field.
The chakra is blocked when the energy flow is restricted, thereby causing dis-ease and imbalance. To work with the chakras is to heal the body of old constricting patterns lodged in our body and our mind. We take in energy from the sun into different areas or Chakra. Each chakra energizes and sustains certain organs. The balance of the seven chakras activates healing in the body by transmitting energy to the inner layer of the aura-the etheric body's health aura. This corrects the polarity of our entire system.
Chakras are organizing centers for the reception, assimilation, and transmission of life energies.
Our Chakras, as core centers, form the coordinating network of our complicated mind/body system. From instinctual behavior to consciously planned strategies, from emotions to artistic creations, the chakras are the master programs that govern our life, loves, learning, and illumination. As seven vibratory modalities, the chakras form a mythical Rainbow Bridge, a connecting channel linking Heaven and Earth, mind and body, spirit and matter, past and future.
Chakras can be opened or closed, excessive or deficient, or any of the various stages in between. These states may be basic aspects of someone's personality throughout most of their life, or something that changes from moment to moment in response to a situation. An ailing chakra may be unable to change its state easily, being stuck in either an open or a closed state. The chakra then needs healing by uncovering and removing whatever is blocking it. If a chakra is blocked in a closed state, then it is unable to generate or receive energy on that particular plane, such as love energy or communication. If a chakra is blocked in an open or excessive state, that means it tends to channel all energies through that particular plane, such as using all situations to further one's power or meet sexual needs, when other forms of behavior might be more appropriate. A closed chakra is a chronic avoidance of certain energies, while an excessively open chakra is a chronic fixation.
